I love the grocery store. Sounds crazy, I know. But I can spend hours going up and down each isle. I find it kind of peaceful (unless it is the day before a potential snowsleetice storm). The “Muzak” floating through the speakers. The part of me that longs to be organized, loves that everything has its place. The fruit cups never move. The chicken breasts are always in the same place. The spaghetti sauce is always where it should be. On occasion they eff me up and move some stuff around but it happens so rarely that I don’t get upset. At least not for long. The times where I run in, grab a few things and hurry right back out are few and far between.
However, there is one thing that can take this blissful experience and mess it all up. Check out. I can not stand a bag boy or girl that does not know how to properly bag groceries. It drives me nuts. I would venture to go as far and say it is my biggest pet peeve. For the love. I even place things in my cart with the things they should be bagged with. I have a system. When the cashier starts the check out process, they stay in order. You don’t need to let it get all jumbled up. Pay attention! You do not put meat with fresh veggies or fruit. You do not put eggs with a gallon of juice. You do not put canned vegetables with the bread. In fact you should not put 5 canned veggies and a spaghetti sauce in the same bag, unless you double bag!! I mean really. Come on. It is all I can do to not tell them to stop and just let me do it myself!!!
I should start a training program for the grocery chains around the country. I am sure I could save the sanity of others too…hmmm….
